Kissing Hank's A$$ - The Story of the Church of God

There are a few swear words for those too delicate to listen.

This is great! It reminds me of how I bought into the complete bullshit of Armstrong. He promised a lot but never delivered, just took and took. I was too stupid to learn that, so I jumped to UCG where I got caught in the same loop of abuse from guys who knew better. Now my family and I are totally free of the Church of God.

Before Hank Hannegraf (and I didn't watch the video, so either excuse or accuse me if that's not what this is about), I used to occasionally listen to the original Bible Answer Man, Walter Martin. Ostensibly, he appeared to have some good knowledge, balance, and wisdom, although there is often a bad or questionable story behind the "public" story as we all know. I never knew what happened to Martin until later learning thru the internet of Hannegraf godfathering Tkach era WCG into Evangelicalism.

Once again, at least skim the final pages of the history Richard Nickels wrote about the sabbatarian COGs. Those lead up to what HWA later began, and you will come away with a better foundation or understanding of the evolution of this scam which affected all of us.

Or too civilized to listen. Thanks for the warning.

I left the WCG back in 1995. Because I seen the WCG as it really was, one big scam. Joe Sr. allowed the lid to be pulled off of the Pandora's box through the process of the major doctrinal changes he initiated. This allowed for a more free flow of information about the dark side of the leaders at the very top of the WCG. The Ambassador Report and books written by David Robinson and others convinced me that I as well as thousands of others where sold nothing more then a pile of b.s.. I feel bad for the people still trapped in the numerous splinter groups that still are scamming people. The good news is that some are being freed by the free flow of information that web-sites like this provide.

I know a Baptist deacon who is wiser than any COG minister I ever heard sermonize. About swear words he says it's not what goes into your ears that corrupts you; it's what comes out of your mouth.

I must admit, though, that he would be appalled by this video--not because of the language, but because it implies that the god fundamentalists worship is monstrous. This is a warning for those whose theology is too delicate to withstand challenges.

This is great. Arguing about the food reminded me of the time I got a call from a friend /member of the PCG from Washington State. She was telling me how this one minister, Cocomise was sent up there to replace the other minister, Hilliker,(Gerald Flurry's son's father-in-law), whom another friend/PCG member had told me that the two, Hilliker and Flurry, didn't get a long anyway), but back to the story...
Cocomise had come in like a whirlwind up there and was accusing all the members in the Washington congregation of being "Laodiceans",and he told them he was sent to whip them into shape.
Cocomise was giving the congregation specific instructions on how to make the perfect cup of coffee for Christ when he returns and Christ would only accept his, Cocomises, perfect recipe.
This guy Cocomise),has a business called "Petra" that makes a lot of money to give to Flurry. On the other hand Hilliker, the other father-in-law, needed to be taught a lesson by Flurry about...
"A U T H O R I T Y"... I suppose. Hilliker was put over landscaping at PCG headquarters.
I might be wrong but I believe the Hillikers are still there because of there son Joel and their daughter who is married to Stephen Flurry. Otherwise they would be banned from ever speaking to them were they...

This video pretty much sums up religion in general.

My only regret watching this video was that I was not the one who made it. And how much time I wasted kissing Hanks a$$.

Substitution. That's all it is. Substitute one phrase for another. It all seems just as reasonable with or without the substitution. The substitution just makes the degree of stupidity that exists here evident.

About swear words he says it's not what goes into your ears that corrupts you; it's what comes out of your mouth.

1) If it's going into your ears all the time it will soon be coming out of your mouth.

2) It's still base, classless, offensive and degenerate even if you are only listening.

Oh mercy me. You ARE a delicate hothouse flower, aren't you?

Ret. Prof...you are so correct! The "delicate" ones are so hypocritical. I never was around people that I heard that really swore a lot till I came to Pasadena and worked for the church. One of the "favorite" evangelists who jumped ship to UCG loved to drop F bombs when he was around people he was comfortable with.

Today after church a Pasadena Policeman came to discuss the issues with homeless people causing problems. Pasadena has close to 700 homeless because of the various dare agencies and the new Gold Line that allows easy transport to the city. He had a video an arrest he had to do with a schizophrenic man who tried to jump on the Gold Line tracks. He said I want to warn you that there is swearing in this, but we are all adults here...and then he went on. Armstrongites pick some of the silliest things to get pissed off over. While I don't usually do it, I don't get bent out is shape when someone says "ass" or worse around me.

I heard Desmond Tutu a couple years ago who said what this world needs is more cigar smoking cussing Christians who disrupt the apple cart. There is a group of men from church who, when we get together, smoke cigars, drink scotch and occasionly drop an "f" bomb or say "ass." I prefer being around these men compared to being around some of the "converted" men from Armstrongism who spit spittle in self righteous indignation.

Swearing, in the raw, is just a bunch of syllables. There is more to the picture than just that. Basically, you have to look at what damage the syllables do. Which is worse? Yelling "Fuck you!" at someone for being disrespectful to your wife, or telling someone that the Germans are coming in 1972, causing you to blow off your education, shun your "unconverted" family, and give someone all your money to build buildings you thought the Germans were just going to destroy anyway?

An old, wise, pastor once shared that people whose sins are slightly different from our own are generally the ones we end up singling out for condemnation.

I'm in a profession where swearing is considered to be politically incorrect. But, if someone else happens to do it in my presence, it's no big deal. I just wish we could smoke without adverse health effects, but some of the people who didn't quit when I did are experiencing COPD and emphysema.
